| My Saviors The First of my saviors was God Who brought me from heaven afar. Such a long journey for such a wee haul But long ago I had wished on that star. The second of my saviors was Sherry who found me almost hairless on the highway. The veterinarian said do not spare me, But my big brown eyes said ‘not today!’ My third savior was supposed to be Sandy who took me as company for her son, but I wasn’t house broken and couldn’t pee so she locked me in a cage before I’d even begun. My fourth saviors were my Mom and my Dad who fell in love with me; I wasn’t alone. I was scared and needy and cried from being sad, but Mom threw out the cage and I knew I was home. I even had a sister, Aussie, who loved me right away. She nosed me and sniffed me and circled me good. I only weighed 6 pounds then, but as they all say when you’re happy you eat, and eat what you should. Then came my fifth savior. His name was Dr. Bell. He cuddled me and doctored me for such a long time. He even read books to learn more how to help me. He tried everything he could and was so very kind. He kissed me on the top of my head and held me on his knee. One thing the doc did was talk to me a lot. He’d ask me how things happened and how I was feeling. He said, “How ya doing buddy; you’re special to be such a tot, and every time he’d say that it just sent me reeling. There were God’s angels, of course, Dr. Barkley and Marsha. They even framed some of my stuff and wrote me a poem. Then there was Diane, Regina, Helen, Sarah, Amanda, Eloise, Justin & Cal. I may have left somebody out, so please forgive me. Mom and Dad gave me to Regina to hold; everybody was there when I said my goodbye. They didn’t want me to leave, but God had me new friends to play with so I said ‘take care. I’ll see ya’ll again someday’, cause God’s promises I believe. Michael Angelo ‘Angie’ Tiner November 18, 2004 |
